Casebound Intake · managed by Mutagenic Labs
24/7 intake on your firm's own number: voice, text and web, with Yelp coming soon. It says it's an AI, collects only what your conflicts check needs, and alerts your attorney with the lead in hand. We build it in 14 days and run it for you.
For consumer-practice law firms in Los Angeles and Orange County.
When a legal-tech company secret-shopped law firms, fewer than half picked up the phone, and only a third answered an email. A caller who reaches voicemail at 8 PM doesn't wait for Monday. They call the next firm.
Clio, 2024 Legal Trends Report, secret-shopper study, as summarized by 2Civility.What it does
One intake engine behind your existing number and website. Your clients never see a new phone number.
An AI intake assistant answers when your team doesn't: after hours, at lunch, during overflow. It follows a script your attorney approves.
A caller who hangs up gets a text back within a minute, on your registered number, so the conversation keeps going.
Web inquiries get a reply, not a queue. The same conflict-safe questions, the same attorney alert.
Yelp messages pulled in, sorted and drafted for reply, so your response time stops costing you leads. Now in testing.
Every inquiry lands in one place: a structured lead in Casebound or your case management system, with an alert to the attorney on call. Spanish-language intake is available, tested on the demo line before you decide.
How it works
We map your phone and web channels, your practice areas and who gets alerted.
We draft intake scripts for each practice area and send them to your attorney.
Your attorney approves the scripts and the questions the assistant may ask before conflicts clear.
We build on your number and run it in shadow mode, so you see exactly how it handles calls before it answers one.
After hours first, then overflow, then every inbound call, at the pace you choose.
Text-back goes live as soon as carrier registration for your number clears, typically two to three weeks after you sign. Voice and web go live on the 14-day schedule.
Safeguards
Ask any intake vendor these questions. Here are our answers.
Every call, text and chat opens by saying the caller is talking to an AI assistant.
Callers hear that the call is recorded before anything substantive is said, and can continue unrecorded.
Before your attorney clears conflicts, it collects names and the type of matter, not the facts of the case.
It never tells a caller whether they have a case, never accepts or declines a matter, and hands anything urgent to a person.
Before any firm goes live, our voice, phone and AI providers must agree in writing not to train on or reuse your callers' data.
Your attorney approves every script, and you get an Ethics Pack: AI-use policy and supervision-log templates and client disclosure language.
Each firm runs on its own Casebound instance. Leads go to you and nobody else. We never sell, share or refer them.
Texts are neutral, and callers can ask for no texts or voicemail. That matters for family-law and domestic-violence callers.
How you pay
You pay like you pay for software. What we earn never depends on which matters you take or what they're worth.
FAQ
That's your call and your ethics counsel's, not ours, and nothing here is legal advice. What we provide is a setup designed around the rules that apply to intake (AI and recording disclosure, conflict-safe questions before clearance, attorney-approved scripts) and an Ethics Pack with templates for an AI-use policy, a supervision log and client disclosure language.
No. It's built not to. It never evaluates a case or accepts or declines a matter, and it hands anything urgent or sensitive to a person. Try to make it on the demo line.
Most services take a message. The questions that matter come next: how fast does an attorney see it, does it reach your case management system, does it work by text, and what happens at 9 PM on a Saturday? The free intake test shows you what happens today.
It delivers leads to Casebound, and syncs with systems like Clio, MyCase and Smokeball where their APIs allow. We confirm exactly what syncs during your free intake test, before you decide.
Your firm. Each firm has its own instance, our vendors must sign no-training and retention terms before go-live, and our staff access your data only to support the service, with every access logged. Mutagenic's founder is an attorney, but his separate law practice has no access to customer data and does not take Mutagenic customers as clients.
Spanish-language intake is available. We test it with you on the demo line, and a bilingual member of your team approves the Spanish script before it goes live.
